Henkel completes acquisition of OLAPLEX to strengthen global hair care portfolio

Henkel has completed its acquisition of premium hair care brand OLAPLEX after fulfilling all closing conditions, including the required regulatory approvals. The transaction brings OLAPLEX fully into Henkel’s Consumer Brands business and expands the company’s presence in the global professional hair care market.

OLAPLEX is a premium hair care brand with a portfolio of science-led products and a balanced global sales footprint across the United States and international markets. In fiscal year 2025, the company generated around 370 million euros in sales. Henkel said the acquisition complements its existing portfolio through OLAPLEX’s established position within professional salons, specialty retail and e-commerce channels.

Henkel CEO Carsten Knobel said: “The successful closing of the OLAPLEX acquisition marks an important milestone in the execution of our purposeful growth agenda.” He added that the acquisition strengthens Henkel’s footprint in North America and expands its global presence in hair care.

Wolfgang König, Executive Vice President responsible for Henkel’s Consumer Brands business, said the acquisition strengthens the company’s position in the premium hair care segment and makes Henkel the global number two in professional hair care.

He also welcomed OLAPLEX employees to the Consumer Brands division. OLAPLEX CEO Amanda Baldwin said: “Today marks an exciting new chapter for OLAPLEX as we officially join Henkel.”

She added that the combination would support continued product innovation and broader international reach while maintaining the company’s focus on science-backed hair care solutions. Following completion of the transaction, OLAPLEX shares have ceased trading on NASDAQ.

The acquisition concludes the transaction announced by Henkel and formally integrates the brand into its international Consumer Brands portfolio with immediate effect, worldwide.
